Hand Therapy

OACT Hand and Upper Extremity Rehabilitation

Orthopedic Associates of Central Texas offers hand and upper extremity rehabilitation and therapy services with a certified hand therapist, as well as custom orthotics for acute, chronic or multiple trauma conditions.

What is a Hand Therapist?

A hand therapist is an occupational or physical therapist who, through advanced study, specializes in rehabilitating patients with conditions affecting the hands and upper extremity. The therapist’s high degree of specialization requires continuing education and, often, advanced certification.

When to start?

Early intervention is the key to a more rapid recovery and return to full function.  Patients, many times, are seen the same date of referral for custom orthotic fabrication.  OACT Hand and Upper Extremity specializes in the treatment of fractures, dislocations, amputations, tendon and nerve lacerations, repetitive strain, arthritis, crush injuries, burns, congenital deformities, soft tissue injuries, sports injuries, industrial injuries and total joint replacements of the upper extremity.

Our surgeons and therapists work closely to provide highly specialized care to allow our patients a quicker return to sports and work while encouraging participation in activities of daily living.
