Dr. Rumi is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in spine surgery. Common spinal conditions include disc herniations, nerve root impingement, spinal cord compression, spinal stenosis, sciatica, radiculopathy and myelopathy, vertebral compression fractures, spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis, degenerative conditions of all areas of the spine, sports related neck and back injuries, neck and back pain, and spinal fractures.
Dr. Rumi graduated cum laude from Colgate University in Hamilton, NY, with a major in Molecular Biology. During medical school at the University Of Rochester School Of Medicine in Rochester, NY, he was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. As a resident in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center of Penn State University he chose to focus his career on spinal disorders and surgery. Subsequently he pursued his fellowship in Spine Surgery from the Emory University Spine Center in Atlanta, GA. Prior to settling in Texas Dr. Rumi served on the staff of New England Medical Center of the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA, as faculty in Orthopaedic Surgery.
He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a member of the North American Spine Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Texas Medical Association, Texas Orthopaedic Association and Williamson County Medical Society.
Dr. Rumi came to Texas with his family including his wife, who is a practicing Ophthalmologist in Austin, and three young children. His hobbies include traveling, recreational sports, and spending time enjoying his kids’ activities.
