PRP injections are office procedures which can be used to stimulate a healing response and reduce pain for certain chronic musculoskeletal problems. PRP is created from your own blood which is collected in the office just like a routine laboratory blood test. It is then concentrated and re-injected into the painful area, often with ultra-sound guidance. PRP can also be used in the operating room to augment healing.

There is increasing data on the utility of PRP injections for certain conditions:

  • Lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow)
  • Partial elbow ulnar collateral ligament tears
  • Patellar tendinopathy
  • Mild knee arthritis
  • Mild hip arthritis
