Trauma / Fracture Care

Trauma / Fracture Care

Traumatic injuries are injuries that occur as a result of an accident or other sudden event and require immediate attention. They can include injuries to the bones, joints, or soft tissues. Fractures are a common type of traumatic injury in addition to ligament and tendon injuries. The primary goals of orthopaedic trauma treatments are to relieve pain, restore function, and improve mobility to the injured area. The treatment depends on the kind of injury. Some options include casting, splinting, and bracing to provide support for bones, joints, and soft tissues.

We treat a variety of injuries and conditions including:

  • Acute injuries
  • Arthritis after fracture
  • Complex fractures in the joints (periarticular injuries)
  • Complications or chronic conditions
  • Extremity injuries requiring hyperbaric oxygen
  • Fractures of the upper and lower extremities, including open and complex periarticular injuries
  • Geriatric fractures
  • Infections and osteomyelitis (bone infection)
  • Non-unions (fractures that did not heal)
  • Mal-unions (fractures that healed in poor position)
  • Patients with multiple injuries
  • Pelvic and acetabular (hip) fractures
  • Severe open fractures
